It's very much appreciated by those of us who've stuck with SU through the years waiting for Trimble to get their act together, and which they finally now appear to be doing, to some degree at least. This scaling the pdf part...You are using the tape measure tool to scale? How does that work?

Me thinks back to sketchup 8 and there has been nothing but tiny incremenal changes which amount to pretty much nothing. Trimble have been dilly dallying for over a decade. To do anythng usefull or complex you need to mess around with plugins and the usefull ones are mostly $$.

now we would absolutely need a dark interface, like in AutoCAD, Revit or Draftsight

Now that Sketchup has this built in you don't need to pay for this anymore right?

Where is the condoc 2 scrapbook? I can't seem to find it in my file.

Thank you for another great video !!! Can I integrate Condoc into Medeek models built before Condoc was installed ...if so what would Condoc do with all the tags that were used in the original model...would they automatically migrate into the condoc system ?

They should add simple reflection option to sketchup , new interface for plugins so you can "dock" extension window to Tray. I agree 2024 is small step to make sketchup better compared to years 2017-2023

Mkay. I'll upgrade, fredo even got lord of the tool bars working with the new API so I don't really have a reason not to anymore. I've really liked playing with that ambient occlusion style, so I'm excited to put it on my designs

Mike, your videos are always a great learning experience.

While multiple tags to a single entity is a huge step in the right direction, it is just a scratch on the surface of project visibility. The concept of "Visibility by Criteria" is the real deal. Visibility based on entities properties (i.e. Dimension, weight, thermal mass, carbon footprint, material, speciality, etc) is the way to go. BlenderBIM is working on this. Anyway... Nice to see people thinking out of the box.

Hi MB, Agreed, so annoying sifting through all those layers (ok tags..grrr!!) it's well overdue as other programmes I use, such as DataCAD & Form.Z & I guess others as well, have this visual mouse pointer "on/off" function as part of the core programme. Well done in filling in the much needed shortfalls again with SU. 👍

It realy took me 2 days to upgrade from 2023 to 2024 and set everything up, bugs with almost all the plugins i use but the developers were very responsive and now looks that everything is ok, very happy with the upgrade it is a big change in speed and AO is great also, i guess with the new engine that was normal to be a transition

This release is far from perfect. Major bugs!

Very good update indeed , for future versions would be nice to see sectioncut´s width by Layer and/or Material, we would get rid of "stacking layers" in LayOut

You can always count on Brightman's Design to take care of everything when it comes to these matters. Very practical, all about consistency and smooth workflow, no BS. If I were to describe your approach with a quote, it would be 'Keep it simple, stupid'.

I just upgraded to SketchUp 2024, but I find the Ambient Occlusion setting is greyed out. Could this be because my Mac doesn't support the new graphics engine setting?

Not sure about this update. Performance updates sure good changes but ambient occlusion is not a big deal. Also sketchup needs more updates about ui changes about plugins which is a mess at the moment. Updates like stackable icons etc...

One thing i would like to point out about, when i upgraded from SU2021 to SU2023, is the plugins related to going absolutely fullscreen stopped working due to the total change of file structure of SU23, disabling the plugin devs to not be able to give total fullscreen function. If that is the same case with SU24, i hope trimble gives that function inbuilt so as to allow to take screenshots of SU works without and icon clutter.....I hope u can pass this message to the SU Dev team....its a feature dearly missed nowadays.

Performance improvements is huge (30 milion polygons model works without any problems) and ambience occlusion looks great. I just wanna see dark UI in next version!

Wow I am so happy really they listen to me I always ask SketchUp to add ambiant occlusion I like the new graphics stuff really so happy I think they should now focus on UV tool or add something like texeldensity because as a SketchUp user I now see my self using blender more and more because of the UV tools in blender because when you want your textures to look good in Unreal engine you will need those awesome tools we have SketchUV whitch is good but not useful if you want to pack your UV …. SketchUp should work really on the outliner ( we have to be able to add colors like in blender so that our hierarchy becomes more useful) -speaking of blender window users have SketchUp importer if they want to render or use the project in blender it will be nice to have the possibility to do so for Mac users (why not to integrate a blender extension(.blend ) in the SketchUp export extension so that after finishing our model in SketchUp we can easily use blender ( amazing and free ) and finish our job( not obj something like SketchUpimporter because it respect your model hierarchy ) We should be able to import obj and FBX in SketchUp now that we have the possibility to use our graphic…. Performance improvements? Don't be ridiculous! Layout and Sketchup aren't slow; you're just modeling wrong! Does this mean no more gaslighting of desperately frustrated users in the forums? Truly a new era is upon us.

I am kind of in love with sketchUP all over again....absolutely waiting to try the ambient occlusion style... The overhaul of SU and LY for using the power of graphic cards is awesome news....thanks for giving a peek at the updates.

I use su for illustrations in technical documentation. I really wish tremble would make an option to purchase and own the software. The subscription model makes me very hesitant to recommend it. 3d studio from autodesk is only 3x the cost of su but in a very different league. Tremble is also leaving the entire hobbyist group in the dark. The online version is useless and slow. If they sold a version without layout for $100 it would be acceptable.

The LO drafting tips are much appreciated. The SketchUp channel puts out great content for modeling in SU, but they're missing someone who regularly uses LO for CDs. Keep up the good work filling the gap.

this way is amazing when you want black wall but if you want to have grey or White .... you will have many lines and that s not cool.thats why i use the knigh tool to cut and get rid of many line ...
